In quadrant 2:

• It would seem that you will be turning towards a vessel on your starboard bow.
• This is no different from turning towards a vessel to go astern of it.
• The other vessel should turn to starboard also, so it is safe.
• In all cases consider what the target is allowed to do. But be aware that it may do nothing.

ONCE YOU SIGHT THE TARGET VISUALLY:

• Normal 'colregs' apply.
