The book has three main sections. The first section includes the government perspective of requirements for fundamentals and the need for technological developments for fracking to become a successful and widespread technology. The second section presents global resources and technologies adopted by US, Europe, China, and India. The third section consists of four parts: fundamentals, applications, technologies, environmental and societal impacts. In these sections, the composition of fracking fluids, fundamentals on fracking processes adopted, assessment of technologies and advancements, and interference of fracking fluids with natural waters and ecosystems is addressed.
