Rationale

All of the major publishers publish a reference book on pediatric Hepatology and this is our flagship one.  Liver disease is on the rise in children and as a result this is increasingly becoming a key sub-specialty within Hepatology.  Deirdre Kelly is a key Wiley contact both in journals and books – and a former president of ESPGHAN.  Although the 3e performed modestly in terms of sales, this is explained by the poor timing of publication (3e commissioned too close to publication of 2e resulting in a lack of genuine new material between editions 2 and 3).  This has now been addressed with a more sensible timeline.  Overall sales should be stronger than before and as a result, a new edition is justified.
