  • Description

This book covers a wide range of topics, from basic principles of molecular biology, laboratory methods and statistics, through to different types of study design used in human and pathogen genetic epidemiology, and emerging fields of integrative genomics research including gene expression, epigenetics and causal inference.  Each chapter is written by one or more expert(s) with peer reviewed publications in the relevant area and is largely based on teaching materials that has been road tested in the world leading university education environment at the Bloomsbury Centre for Genetic Epidemiology and Statistics. Exercises and worked examples are presented throughout.

The material is based on short courses and modules given to postgraduate students at LSHTM and UCL. The courses are at postgraduate (Masters) level, with approximately 30 students taking each short course and module per year.
