Dr. Cohen presents the new edition of his propular atlas, Comprehensive Atlas of High Resolution Endoscopy and Narrowband Imaging, which won first prize for Gastroenterology at the 2008 BMA Medical Book Competition. Complete with over 900 endoscopic images, this atlas gives an exceptional preview of the future of endoscopy, with a broad new look at normal and abnormal findings throughout the GI tract.
The book is divided into three main parts:
- The Basics of NBI
- Potential Applications of NBI
- Atlas of 585 colour images, broken into sections on the pharynx and esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon, including correlating histopathology.
The accompanying website includes:
- 55 video clips containing 2 1/2 hours of annotated video to give you a complete sense of how HRE and NBI work and look in real time, including during therapeutic procedures.
- The complete text with a full text and image caption search function
- A database of figures from the book
What's new in the new edition:
Since the 1st edition, many endoscopists have upgraded their equipment and now have access to this technology. However, utilization remains limited due to the need for training and resources for self-instruction. There has also been improvements to the technology which has resulted in improved brightness, clarity, and magnification of images. This along with a proliferation of clinical research, designed to better delineate the applications of advanced imaging modalities and sensitivity and specificity for particular pathologies, makes a second edition of great interest and value.
- New and updated technology
- Expanded section on the learning curve and training
- New chapters on:
- NBI and high resolution endoscopy in the bile duct and pancreas
- Applications in Therapeutic endoscopy/Polypectomy/EMR/ESD
- Future Applications and Research in NBI - Each chapter in Part 2 will now contain:
- “How to learn about . . .” section
- Self-assessment questions
- Tables summarizing scientific evidence defining the benefits application methods
- Take home box - What the literature does/does not support and unanswered questions
- Findings and implications presented in recent papers
