Essential Clinical Guide to Understanding and Treating Autism

This is the first volume in our new series Essential Clinical Guide to Understanding and Treating Childhood Disorders edited by Fred V. Volkmar.  He is writing the first volume with Lisa Wiesner, the same coauthor he worked with to write our successful guide to autism for parents (STD 8,770).   This volume provides concise, practical current information based on the most up-to-date research and clinical experience for primary care givers around the world.  Providers in the first world are awash in information but restricted in the time and money they can spend finding and assessing what is available.  Those practicing outside of the developed world may have limited access to new research and clinically-based treatment recommendations available to academics in the first world.  Both groups need authoritative, concise help to service children, adolescents, and their families.

Fred Volkmar is the premier expert on autism in the United States, and with Lisa Weisner, an experienced academic and practicing pediatrician, he has created a resource for primary care givers that is uniquely authoritative and easy to use.
