This book covers, in detail, the theory and practice of those aspects of computer-assisted text analysis that have been and could be used for analysis of genomic DNA sequences. Primary structures of DNA, RNA, and proteins can be regarded as texts encoding some aspects of the cell, and some aspects of RNA, polypeptide, and protein sequence analysis are covered as well. However, the main focus is on DNA and its biological role(s). This book helps readers understand advantages and limitations of sequence analysis for understanding biological facts and their interpretation(s), allowing them to analyze nucleotide and protein sequences on their own personal computers.
